August 2007

We have been so fortified by the remembrance of you and your prayers for us this month! We can ?feel? the prayers! Thank-you so much! We couldn?t minister here without you.

We have been so blessed this summer with short-term visitors who helped us to minister in the hospital and in the communities around us. We could not have made it without the help of Nathaniel home this summer. He acted as a chauffeur, guide, translator, all around help. Nathaniel is back in boarding school in Germany for his senior year.

We?ve had some very tough cases over the summer. Many deaths, but also many opportunities to show and to share His Love. We had a 5 year old boy who fell from a tree, got up, and kept playing. About 5 days later, he turned his neck and was suddenly paralyzed from the neck down. He was brought to our hospital, where we tried to stabilize him and keep him comfortable. Within the week though the paralysis affected his respiratory system and he died. We just had a 9 year old boy who had rabies. We sent him home to die.

We?ve also had some miraculous healings and recoveries that have only come from God! For every one who comes in that we can?t help, we probably help 10 or more to get better. And with our short-term doctors, nurses, and other staff out here it helps to share the load.

We were blessed also this month when the Togo government gave Michael, Cheryl, and Nathaniel free, three year, multi-entry visas as a way of thanking us for our work here. We have ?heard,? that sometimes they even issue 10 year or ?life-long? visas. Maybe next time? ? We were also able to get our Ghana visas renewed so we?re all set for another 3 years here, even though we will be coming to the U.S. in June 2008 until June 2009.

Mobile Medical Clinics continue to be a big part of our ministry. And the church plant at Tsaviť that we assist with has cleared some land and built a bamboo/straw covered shelter for worship. We anticipate having our first service there in the next few weeks.

Continue to pray for the election of representatives here in Togo. The government is now talking about holding the elections around Oct 14th. They are trying to make preparations for the voting to be ?handled? fairly and without controversy. This will be the first elections since the ?controversial Presidential elections? in 2005 where some of us had to go into Ghana for safety reasons.

We?re praying for all of you, near and far, as you get started into a ?new year? of school and other activities. May God Bless You!

For His Glory,
