June 2011

Well, we’ve already mentioned that we feel somewhat “schizophrenic” traveling from Africa to the States and back.   Now, after a 12 day road trip, we have to say that we have a newer appreciation for traveling sales men, or others, who travel so much!  We had a wonderful time traveling:  we were treated royally, had great weather, saw many friends and family, visited great supporting churches, and had safety, so we’re not complaining! It’s just good to be home after sleeping in so many different beds and eating so many good meals.  Also, some of the problem is that we always had “good intentions” to exercise, or eat better, or get caught up on things, but we have to admit that that did not happen!  So, now it’s to the grindstone.   We started June with a Memorial Day visit with Michael’s family in Fredericksburg, VA.  Then we ministered at Purcellville Baptist Church in Purcellville, VA.   After that we were off to the Chesapeake Bay area to minister with our friends at Faith Bible church in Mechanicsville, MD.   We then had a great weekend of ministry at Medical Mission’s Interface in Harrisburg, PA, ran up to N.J. to see our granddaughter’s dedication; then back to WV, where we got to spend a weekend with Bible Center Church in Charleston, WV, and where we had a reunion with their Togo medical team that worked with us in Togo last fall; then off to OH to see most of Cheryl’s family; and then back to WV to minister with Johnston Chapel Baptist Church in Princeton, WV.  Finally, we finished up our month with a visit to World Medical Mission/Samaritan’s Purse headquarters in Boone, N.C.   All in all a great month, but we sure are tuckered out!   Continue to pray for the ministry in Togo.  As we travel, we’re also trying to recruit other full-time missionaries.    Pray that others would be touched to join His Team in Togo.  If we had more laborers, we would have an even greater harvest.  We know that the Lord is in control though.  It is all in His hands.  Pray especially for Dr. John Briggs and Dr. Chuck Miller as they hold down the fort medically in Togo.  We are blessed to have so many short-termers joining them to lighten the load.  There are still some surgical holes in Togo.  Please pray for coverage for: July 25 – Aug 25 and Oct 15 -22.  If anybody can fill this need, please let us or Dr. Bob Cropsey know.   We are heading into our last month of home assignment.  We have 4 more churches to minister at.  And other various activities planned.  Pray for Michael’s knee to heal.  He was doing well, and then he had a little set back with increased knee pain.  He was able to see the orthopedist today.  The orthopedist gave him a steroid injection in his knee to help the healing process.  We do have one week of vacation coming up and will spend it at the beach with great friends.  And we’ll need to get prepared to return back to Togo the first week of August.  Pray that we can find a good balance as we minister and prepare for our return.   For His Glory,   Michael & Cheryl Gayle, ABWE, Togo, W.
